Decks and Dungeons

Decks and Dungeons is a single-player rogue-like card game played with a standard 52 deck of cards.

Dungeon rooms are created by arranging cards in groups of four. Progress is made by resolving three of the four cards in each room, leaving the fourth card as the base for the next room. Rooms can be skipped, but never twice in a row; eventually, the player must return to them. (They go to the bottom of the deck.)

Weapons can be equipped to attack multiple monsters, as long as the defeated monster has a lower value than the last one defeated with that same weapon. This is to simulate weapon degradation.

To attack a monster of higher value, a new weapon must be equipped. Monsters can also be attacked barehanded, but this costs health points equal to the monster’s value.

Health potions restore health up to the initial maximum value of 20.

The game ends in defeat when health points reach zero, or in victory if the player manages to clear all the dungeon rooms.
